What MDC Chicago Is

My Dining Companion Chicago is a non-romantic dining companionship service. We connect adults who want to share a meal and good conversation at public restaurants and cafes in Chicago. MDC Chicago is not a dating service.

Respect Above All

Every participant deserves to feel comfortable, valued, and safe. Treat your dining companion with courtesy, kindness, and genuine interest.

Honesty

Be truthful about who you are. Represent yourself accurately in your profile and in person.

Openness

Our community includes people of all backgrounds. Approach each meal with curiosity and an open mind.

Boundaries

Respect the boundaries of others and communicate your own clearly. “No” is a complete sentence.

Expected Behavior

• Be present and engaged. Put your phone away when possible.
• Be respectful of time. Show up on time; cancel with reasonable notice.
• Keep conversations appropriate.
• Respect the non-romantic boundary.
• Split the check or follow the agreed arrangement.
• Thank your companion.

The Non-Romantic Boundary

MDC Chicago meetups are not dates. Do not treat a match as a romantic opportunity. Do not pressure a companion for contact info. Physical contact beyond a handshake should only happen with clear, mutual comfort. Participants who repeatedly blur this boundary will be removed.

Inclusivity and Non-Discrimination

MDC Chicago welcomes participants regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, national origin, socioeconomic background, or political affiliation. Discriminatory remarks or behavior are not tolerated.

Public-Place Requirement

All first meetings must take place at a public restaurant, cafe, or similar establishment. Do not suggest meeting at a private residence or isolated location.

What Is Not Acceptable

The following will result in removal: harassment, threats, romantic/sexual pressure, discrimination or hate speech, stalking, sharing others’ personal information, showing up impaired, solicitation, or intentional deception.

How to Report a Concern

Trust your instincts. Remove yourself if you feel unsafe. Contact MDC Chicago at b@deepgratitude.com with subject line “Community Concern.” We take all reports seriously.

Consequences for Violations

Depending on severity: private conversation, warning, temporary suspension, or permanent removal. Serious violations may be reported to law enforcement.
